So the first Disclosure Day trailer dropped yesterday. I want to be excited about a new Spielberg alien movie. But something feels off. And that‘s not even counting the very janky-looking CGI scenes. I‘m confused. 🍿

Rewatched the two Mindhunter seasons and still love them. Too bad it was cancelled after that but it also accurately reflects how they‘re portraying police work as often slow, tedious, disappointing and not even gratifying when you‘re solved a case. It doesn’t undo the crime.

Many years ago the CEO of the company I was working for told me in a casual talk that I am one of the good guys. And I occasionally ponder if that was a genuine compliment or if he just had like these good/bad, high/low performer categories in his head.

Social media is like that group of smokers that always meet in the kitchen at a party or on the balcony or outside the office. If you want to be part of it, you will get addicted. If not, you miss out on the latest gossip. It‘s not a complicated decision, right?

This book caught my eye in a small bookstore and it was a fascinating read about how cult and cultish groups use language. For example, did you ever think about why we are called followers on social media? 📚

My job is weird. I am to ask people about stuff. Then I need to remind myself to remind them to answer or take care of it. And then usually remind them about the reminder. Where does this end, how far into this can I be held accountable?

After using a sleep tracker for a couple of years I conclude as follows: My feeling in the morning either agrees or disagrees with the tracker. Either way it‘s kind of pointless.

First sunny Spring-like day and I swear I can smell someone‘s barbecue 😂

My favorite lunch restaurant just raised the prices by 30-40% 😱 Now they‘re priced like a nice dinner restaurant. But even worse, they made the portions smaller. Not to mention they‘re keeping the recent VAT deduction for themselves. Means I would need to not tip anymore to balance it out. Bummer.

For a place to rest in peace our local cemetery is usually pretty busy with workers using loud gardening and construction tools 🤔

A friend from the US asked my to teach her German swear words. She already knew a few and I was surprised how crazy some of them feel since I never use them. So used to swear in English where these words never hit that hard for non-natives.

So my router is faulty and Vodafone confirmed it and just tried to sell me a new one including a new 2-year contract. For a device I already rent from them for a monthly fee. I don‘t think so! Insisted on them just shipping a new router and eventually they agreed. Extremely shady!

What I watched this week 🍿

Sometimes someone tells you some random thing that, unknowingly to them, lives rent-free in your head for the rest of your life. Personal example: A colleague once told me she is disgusted by men‘s hairy ears. I‘ve been obsessed with avoiding that ever since.
